Bottle Biome Observations – February 21st

Water Level: This week, the water level has actually decreased from 8 cm to 7.5 cm.

Algae Growth: Similar to last week, there is really no algae growing on the aquatic level.

Plant Growth: Compared to last week with no growth, there has been a tremendous amount of plant growth on the top level. (Long green grass)

Water Color Changes: Water still has no changes in color that the naked eye can see.

Indications of Water Cycle: This week, the condensation on the top has increased a lot, but there is also condensation on the aquatic level as well. Also, transpiration is occurring since we can see water drops on the tips of the grass.

Changes in the Fish: The beta fish has actually developed more black color spreading towards the front of its body.

Weekly Update – February 11th

We constructed the full assembly of the bottle biome. First, after getting both bottle halves, we added gravel to the bottom with water after that. Then, we taped the top half to the bottom half to prevent air bubbles, as well as poking a hole in the cap with a string running though it. Eventually, we added soil and grass seed with a light watering on top to set up the rest of the interior. Finally, we capped it off with another bottle top and taped it on to ensure no air escapes.
